What is the difference between warranty and insurance?Updated 3 days ago

After purchasing an e-bike from EbikeXL, there are a few different types of issues that could arise, though they are rare:

1. Electrical or Mechanical Defects

  • Premature wear or malfunction of structural or electrical components, such as the motor, battery, controller, or frame, that make the bike unusable.

  • These issues are covered under the EbikeXL warranty (1 year for standard bikes, 2 years for new and demo bikes under 3,000 km).

2. Breakage

  • Severe physical damage caused by accidents, vandalism, or natural events (floods, fires, etc.) that render the bike non-functional.

  • This is not covered by the warranty but can be insured via our optional theft and damage insurance.

3. Theft

  • If your bike is stolen, it is not covered by the warranty, but you can protect it through our optional insurance policy.

Summary:

  • Warranty: Covers technical defects and electrical/mechanical malfunctions.

  • Insurance: Covers theft, accidental damage, and other external risks not included under warranty.
