How Does Theft and Damage Insurance Work?Updated 9 days ago
Why Should I Protect My E-Bike?
Most standard home insurance policies offer only limited coverage for bicycles. Theft inside your home due to a break-in is often covered, but theft outside may only be included if you’ve added a specific option.
We strongly recommend insuring your e-bike if it has significant value, is stored outdoors (even for short periods), or is kept in shared spaces, even if secured with a lock.
What Incidents Are Covered?
1-Year Theft Insurance
Theft due to vandalism, break-ins, or snatching, whether at home or on the street, 24/7.
Theft of fixed accessories purchased with your bike (e.g., a child seat).
1-Year Theft & Damage Insurance
Includes all incidents covered by theft insurance.
Covers physical damage from accidents, vandalism, animals, or natural events.
Provides worldwide coverage, protecting your bike against theft or damage abroad.
How Am I Compensated?
Theft
If your bike is stolen, you are reimbursed the full purchase price—no deductible or depreciation. For example, if your bike cost €2,199, you will receive €2,199 back. Verification is done using your purchase invoice.
Damage
If your bike is damaged, we will help you find a nearby partner bike shop for repairs, which we cover fully. If the bike is beyond repair, you will be reimbursed the full purchase value.
What Is Not Covered?
Theft of wheels, tires, batteries, or accessories if stolen separately.
Bikes not secured to a fixed object with an approved lock (U-lock ≥12mm, chain lock ≥7mm, folding lock ≥5mm, BOA lock ≥25mm).
Cosmetic damage, accessory damage, or personal injury.
Speed bikes, which have different legal restrictions.
There is no claim limit, but total compensation cannot exceed the purchase value of the bike.
How Do I Purchase Insurance?
After adding a bike to your cart, you can select an insurance option. Once payment is completed, we’ll contact you via email to finalize your policy. (In compliance with insurance regulations, we’ll ask for your date and place of birth.)
